The irrigation industry, alongside its partners, has achieved a critical milestone with the EPA’s decision to pause the development of a WaterSense specification for spray sprinkler nozzles. This outcome reflects the strong, unified advocacy of the Irrigation Association and its members, ensuring that the path forward will be shaped by voluntary, consensus-based standards developed by the industry, for the industry.
This decision opens the door for manufacturers, stakeholders and water efficiency advocates to collaborate on a standard that balances sustainability, practicality and innovation. Together, we are laying the groundwork for solutions that advance water conservation while meeting the needs of irrigation professionals. Thank you to all who contributed to this effort—we look forward to continuing this important work.
